House Rules (Revised September 2008)
1. Hours of Opening and Closing

Please see published timetable, as dates and times may vary.

No person under the age of 18 shall purchase or attempt to purchase any intoxicating liquor on the Club premises.

2. Dogs

No dogs shall be allowed into the Clubhouse except guide dogs.

3. Smoking

No smoking shall be permitted in the Clubhouse or in the marquees erected on the terraces at any time.

4. Visitors

a) Members shall have the privilege of introducing visitors to the Club provided that such a visitor has not been rejected as a candidate for election, and that his name has not been struck off the list of Members for non- payment of subscriptions, or for any other cause.

The same visitor may not be introduced more than eight times during any one year. The Member so introducing shall be held responsible for the character and status of the visitor being such as will be acceptable to Members, and for his compliance with these Rules; the Member shall on entering the Clubhouse insert his own name and the name and address of such visitor in the book provided for the purpose. For this purpose visitors shall include crew who are not Members. Visitors shall not be permitted to use such parts of the Clubhouse as may be reserved for the exclusive use of the Members.

b) Intoxicating liquor may be supplied to any non-member admitted to the Club premises as follows:-

(i) Persons residing on the premises.
(ii) Members of any Club affiliated to the Royal Yachting Association.
(iii) Members and officials of visiting teams on the occasion only of organised inter-club or inter-team sporting events and officials officiating at such events.
(iv) Officials and competitors in any regatta organised under the burgee of the Royal Corinthian Yacht club (Cowes), Isle of Wight.
(v) Persons attending bona fide private functions at the premises.

5. Children

All well-behaved children are welcome, but should any Member be forced to complain about a child’s behaviour, then the parent of that child wll be asked to remove them from the Club premises.

6. Mobile Phones

The use of mobile phones is prohibited in all public areas of the Clubhouse.

7. Payments

Members visiting the Club must discharge all liabilities incurred before leaving the Club. If any Member leaves an account outstanding, immediate payments will be requested in writing, omission to comply with this request shal be deemed a default and render the Member liable to expulsion.

The Club reserves the right to charge for accommodation in the event of late cancellation.

For ticketed events, should cancellation occur in the 24 hrs prior to the event, monies may not be refunded.

8. Tariff of Charges

A Tariff of charges shall be exhibited in the Club.

9. Suggestions and Complaints

A member wishing to make any suggestion or complaint shall make such a suggestion or complaint in writing to the Club Secretary.

10. Gratuities

No servant of the Club shall receive any present, money or gratuity from any Member or from any tradesman employed by the Club. No member shall offer any gratuity to any servant of the Club except through the Staff Fund.

11. Club Property and Notices

a) No member or visitor shall remove from the Club premises any newspaper, book, pamphlet, notice, writing paper, towel or any property of the Club.
b) No notice, either written or printed shall be laid on the tables or put up in the Clubhouse without the signature of the Club Secretary.

12. Accommodation

The charge for accommodation shall be such as shall from time to time be fixed by the House Committee, and shall be payable upon departure unless by prior arrangement.

13. Reference to the Committee

Anything not provided for by these rules shall be referred to the Committee whose decision shall be final.

14. Dress Code

After 8pm, in all areas of the Clubhouse on Club Dining Nights, dress shall be as follows:

a) Dining Room and Captains Room - for male members ordinary yachting dress, lounge suit or dark jacket and trousers with tie.
For lady members as appropriate to conform with the dress requirements for male members.
b) Other areas of the Club - for male members smart casual viz shirts with collars, tailored trousers etc.
For lady members, as appropriate to conform with the dress requirements for men members.
c) On other occasions, after 8pm dress shall be smart casual as (b) above.

Please note: Shorts, blue denim jeans, collarless t shirts, tracksuits and trainers are not acceptable attire within the clubhouse after 8pm.
